Heart

Jesus will say to you, “I wanted to know you and I know you wanted to know me, but you never slowed down and stopped working at doing good things to ever get to know me”. Therefore, I never knew you.

It is not about doing good work or obeying all the commandments. It is about accepting the Grace of God and stepping into a relationship with Him.

Martha in Luke 10: 38-42 invited Jesus into her home.  She opened the door to her home and to her heart. However, she became distracted, worried, and overwhelmed by being in control of the preparations that she lost sight of Jesus. She thought Jesus would be more impressed by the output or her work than if she just sits down beside Him and spends time with Him.

Jesus did not say that Martha’s work was bad or it was not needed, only that she lost sight of what mattered most.

It becomes a problem when the work is greater than the one you are working for.

We forget that Jesus wants you, not your output.

The Jewish leaders were too busy doing God’s work and trying to keep every commandment. They were so focused on impressing God with their obedience that they forgot to see the Savior that was right in front of them.

“The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NLT

This verse is a hard verse for many to fully understand.  In simplicity it is telling us that God is not impressed with your strict keeping of doctrines and commandments. He wants your Heart.

“Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22: 37-40 NLT

Are you just going through the motions to give the impression you are a follower of Jesus? Yet you hold back control and don’t want to be completely transformed by the Holy Spirit?

“Rend your heart and not your garments.”  Joel 2:13 NIV

Stop what you are doing at this moment and drop to your knees, surrender your outward behavior and give your heart to God.

“Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43 NIV

Remember it is not a religion it is a relationship.

Prayers and Love for All.

Larry
